Excuse all of the Photo Diary's lately.
A lot has been going on and I will be getting back to outfit posts and more fashion related posts soon!
Until then, here are some pictures of the removal of the Confederate Flag in front of the South Carolina State House on July 10, 2015.
In my eyes the Confederate Flag was not only a pro-slavery flag, but a flag that the southerners used to secede from the union. That flag is a flag that represented a different country from the Union, from the United States of America, and that country is called the Confederacy. The southerners considered themselves not a part of the Union and they technically weren't.
So, what I do not understand is why a flag that represents sectionalism, secession, and slavery was even allowed by the Union and the United States of America in the first place. And flown on federal property.
For the pro-flag people, most of those people probably claim to be "All-Americans" and coined the term 'Merica yet that flag is the opposite of America.
Maybe I am missing something and now the flag means something different than it does to most of the country. Like how black people use "nigga" although it holds a different meaning to us despite it's origins (of course all depending on who says it).
Isn't it weird how we put so much meaning in things....
