Although my intention for this post was to write about the beauty of this temple, instead I write with a heavy heart regarding the killing of minorities by the police.
I cannot say that this is not to be expected despite this being 2016 because this has been a series of events. The all of a sudden large public outcry is to be expected because of the cell phone camera and social media, things spread like wild fire and now the proof that police brutality has been going is tangible.
But, now emotions and tensions are high over Alton Sterling and Philando Castile deaths and people are forced, yet again, to have a serious talk about race. With that conversation came ignorance and its scary. Social media allows people of all types to come out of the woodwork and express their opinions and that they did.
I see people saying that they deserved to die and that all lives matter and blue lives matter and black lives don't matter and other white supremacist things. But, then I see the opposition also responding with hate. I see people saying that those cops deserved to die in Dallas and that they applaud Micah Johnson for killing them
To put it bluntly, I think all these people crazy as hell and that all they are doing is spreading hate.
Then I see people who say they are tired of this "race war" but yet, do not supply a solution. Not only that but they do not understand that there is no race war, all we truly want is equality, and for those responsible to be held accountable legally.
I do want to go in to about what I think about all those different types of people in depth but that'll be a couple of pages long.
So, instead I am going to give my ideas on how to incite change, although, I do not have a lot of readers hopefully this will get you guys thinking.
- Minorities and the whites who support them should stop giving their money to these racist corporations and businesses that have a history of inequality. Powerful people don't pay attention to anything but their money. Why would you want to put you money in to a company who doesn't care about you? The dollar is more powerful than you think and if this is done in mass it could devastate companies. Invest in local businesses and minority owned businesses instead.
- Celebrities voices matter: They have the largest platform in the world they can easily reach millions and incite their fans to use their voice and make a change. Call them out.
- Black athletes and athletes who support the cause should stop competing. Advertisers and businesses make so much money off of black athletes. Even the white supremacists watch football and basketball with mostly black athletes. Can you imagine how much money they would lose and how people would react? It would be amazing and everybody would be watching. Call them out.
As for the steps of creating new laws so that equality can be ensured I haven't thought much about it besides bringing justice to the murdered not because I don't want to but because people can't even take the first step in admitting that there is a problem or the second step in to having a conversation about race.
But, those are my 2 cents and I am going to do my part and I hope you do yours.
BTW if you use "everyone," "all," or "everybody" when stating an opinion or making any other statement on social media you automatically lose credibility.
