This is my best friend here in college Jordan. She's also a fashion major but double majoring in fashion design and merchandising. Whenever I'm stuck on a project or just wanna talk I know that she'll be there to help out,  just like I will be for her.

 This outfit was seriously last minute.

I had it in mind for a while but when I went over to Jordan's and she said she was gonna do a photoshoot with Peja I figured I might as well "buss a fit" also.

But, I got this dope navy leather coat with faux fur from a consignment store in South Carolina for only $40. I was too happy about this find and the price for such a good quality coat. Plus it had the same look and shape of a lot of the shearling coats that are on trend. So, you know your girl couldn't pass that up. 

I decided to pair it with a plain white shirt and black jeans so that the statement piece could be the coat and the glasses and shoes are its co-stars. 

The glasses are also an extremely trendy piece and is gonna be everywhere Spring/Summer time frame and they come in different colors so you're not only limited to yellow.

As for the shoes chunky heel mod-sixties booties are also on trend but, it's not a look for everyone. For example my Aunt absolutely hates the boots but, my mom cousin and Nana thinks they're cute. But, rock what you like!

I recently decided that I was going to read a book a month. 

For some of you avid readers you're probably thinking, "A book a month! Thats baby's work, try a book a week!"
And for some of you non-avid book readers you're thinking, "I wish I could read a book a month. One book takes me a couple of months, every time I open a book my eyes begin to close."

But, yes, I decided that  a book a month should be easy enough to do since I also have to take in consideration that I'm a full time student who also wants to spend sometime on her own projects. 

The reason why I challenged myself to read a book a month was because when I was younger I used to read so much. I'm talking about finishing a 200 page book in a day type reading. Once I picked up a book, I couldn't put it down. My mom used to say I didn't take my time to actually enjoy the books I read. But, obviously I did if I was so invested and interested in the book that I had to finish it. 

I want to rekindle that feeling of being lost in a good book.

 Another reason why I decided to embark on this challenge is to broaden my vocabulary and become a better writer. 

Now, I don't think my vocabulary sucks, but, wanting to improve it can be helpful and necessary when I go out in to "the real world." 

I read something a while ago that said reading more helps you to become a better writer. Of course practicing writing is also another way to improve it and I will be doing a lot of that this semester. I'm taking a college writing class and I plan on Blogging a lot more so, I will be getting tons of practice. The reason behind wanting to improve my writing is to produce better content for my blogs, and of course, it would be another practical tool to have in "the real world." 

In the summertime, when I'm out of school it might change from a book a month to two books a month. But, you're just gonna have to stay tuned to find out!

Anyways, you guys should feel special. Instead of reading only one book for you guys I read two! You know, your girl had to bring in this new year strong!!

Let's just take a brief moment to acknowledge my baby hairs!


The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck is a self-help, motivational, and inspirational book. But, this book gives you basically all the opposite advice that any other self-help book will tell you. Instead of telling you to think positive and that you are special, this book is brutally honest and will tell you everything you don't want to hear but need to. It will tell you that your emotions are overrated, and that you are indeed not special at all.

Yes, it does sound negative, and yes, you will feel extremely uncomfortable while reading this book. But, you will learn that in order to change your life and be happy you need to weather through the storm. Stop avoiding all the negative and uncomfortable things in your life because in essence avoiding them is causing your unhappiness. Pain is necessary to be happy.

This is only one of the 'hard pill to swallow' lessons you will be encountering as you read this book. So, I suggest getting a highlighter, putting on your big girl/boy pants and get to reading.
You will come to the realization that you, a person who may think they have their whole entire life together or you who may not have everything figured out but think its you against the world, is indeed an entitled asshole with messed up values (but the book is there to help you).

I actually really enjoyed the book and would suggest it to everybody even people who've already mastered not giving a f*ck because there are lessons for everybody to learn and if you don't learn anything it at leasts gives you some food for thought.


Steal Like an Artist gives you tips on becoming a more creative person and how to get those creative juices flowing. This is the type of book you will reach for every once in a while to get motivated and inspired to create something. It's a really fast read you can knock it out in about an hour and is filled with many good quotes and interesting pictures (for those adults who enjoy picture books).

The biggest thing I took away from this book is that I need some role models/ mentors who are doing what I want to do so that I can steal from them and be inspired by what they create and their ideas. So, that I can take it and improve on it, make it better, make it my own.

Pescatarian (noun): A person who does not eat meat but eats fish

I've been a pescatarian for about 4 years now but, I am probably the most unhealthiest one you will ever encounter. 

Once you tell people you don't eat meat they automatically assume that your are this health conscious person, who is overly passionate about animals, and someone who pushes other people to accept their "better" lifestyle. 

But, the truth is, that is not the case for many of us pescatarians, vegetarians, and even some vegans.

I started out this lifestyle not doing any research on the "how-to's" of surviving and eating a healthy and well balanced meal without consuming meat. I kind of just impulsively decided that I was going to stop eating meat. So, the first couple of weeks of this new venture all I was surviving off of was McDonald's french fries and fish sandwich, and the Morning Star black bean burgers. I eventually received a couple of vegetarian cookbooks as gifts and started doing a little bit more experimenting, but, I was still stuck eating junk food. People asked me if I felt a difference in my body, if I felt more energized, did I lose weight, is my skin better, did my hair grow. But, none of this happened for me. Sure, I stopped eating meat, but there are still plenty of junk and processed foods that don't have meat in it. 

It's been 4 years now and nothing has really changed, my diet still consists of processed, unnatural foods. Instead of simply not eating meat, I need to be incorporating more plant based foods in my diet if I want to see all those results people claim to have when they stop eating meat. 

And, thats exactly what I'm going to do. 

When I first got this duster coat in the mail I was so excited to wear it that I kinda threw it on with any ol' outfit. I'm not saying my outfit in these pictures are bad but, I know that I can do better. 

Duster coats are really trendy for this fall and winter and we probably will be seeing more of them next winter. Yes, they may not keep you warm in below freezing weather but, at least you're cute because this duster is definitely a statement piece. 

I chose this duster in a powdery pink color that has been trending for a couple seasons now and, is proving to be an all season color. Anything and everything satin is another trend that has been popping up all over social media.

I suppose, I first want to start off by saying I hope everyone had a very happy holidays and are ready to start off the new year!

Although everybody hates the resolutions and the new year, new me stuff, I kind of like it. With the dawn of the new year everyone is so filled with hope and ready for the new beginnings and ready to strive towards their goals. It's kinda cool because at the beginning of a new year the whole world is celebrating and filled with hope, everyone is on the same page and you can feel that energy.

But, I guess you guys are really here to hear about my first semester of college as a fashion design major. 

It was an okay, first semester. 

It wasn't just one thing that made me feel that way, it was a multitude of things. 

But, I don't want to get in to all of that. Since, winter break started my goal was to work on myself and just self-love and self-healing and now I'm extremely ready to start off this second semester.
