Ice Cold

Summer sewing project part 2 completed!

This shirt actually used to be my old junior prom dress. I decided that I wanted to cut it up and turn it into something else.  This is how I originally got my start designing clothes which is through upcycling my used and barely worn clothes to create something new and interesting.

These jeans that I'm wearing I got from some thrift store in Korea are also upcycled and I am absolutely in love with them!

For as long as I've been coming to Korea I had not been thrift shopping until recently with a group of cool friends from college that are here for a study abroad program.
Another thing that I had never done having come to Korea multiple times is to figure out the transportation system. When I first did it getting to my destination was easy but getting back home was the struggle. I got lost on the Korean subway system for an hour with a dying phone, sore feet, and a killer headache all while trying not to have a panic attack. But, I persevered and made my way home, of course thanks to the many kind people who helped me, pointing me in the right direction.
At least now, thanks to learning from my mistakes, I am a bit more confident figuring out what I need to do and where I need to go.

My favorite part of this shirt are the sleeves! I love the volume, softness, and girliness that they add to the whole look. This was my first time ever creating a garment with a key hole and I most definitely made some mistakes but, for my first try, it turned out pretty cute.

I paired this really girly and sexy top with a pair of jeans to dress it down a little bit. Then I decided to wear these black flats with silver details and these mirrored sunglasses to give it more of a cool-gurnge-chic look.

I post my design process and steps I took to make this shirt and other items on my Instagram Story so don't miss out!!

I used the bottom of the dress skirt to create the top. Also look at me at 17, Junior Prom ready!
