The World Belongs to Her

Summer sewing project part three!

My goal for this shirt was to create something that didn't have side seams. Instead, small strips of fabric wrap around the body in a spiral and end in a a free flowing flounce that adds interest to the eye when walking or moving in the garment.

It is also made out of a curtain.

You see, my "fabric store" has been the large pile of clothes that hasn't been touched for years in our attic space. The great thing about this is it pushes me to create something out of a thing that was previously something (did that make sense). It's great on my wallet because I don't have to go and buy fabric. And it's also pretty great for the world because something that would have originally been thrown away is now being re-used.

Great news that I'm pretty excited about is that this upcoming fall semester I will be studying abroad in Florence, Italy!! I had visualized myself going since I applied to this school. I'm excited for all the travel opportunities I will have and just a new experience that doesn't involve me being in Kent, Ohio.

More great news is that I actually won't be at my school campus for the entirety of my junior year. Spring semester I will be studying away in New York! So even more opportunities to network and become a better designer.

Although, now my savings is non existent and I'm gonna have to find an apartment for the low-low somewhere around New York City, my out look is most definitely optimistic.

The world belongs to me!

This outfit made me feel like a rockstar.
Which instantly reminded me of R. Kelly's song Rockstar which was my main mood when wearing this outfit. Side note: R. Kelly, why must you be so problematic!?
Moving forward. I decided to wear this golden shirt with accents of gold jewelry and these cool pair of pants that have a gold exposed zipper with hip cut outs. As for the shoes I decided to put on my fake Balenciaga's.

Shirt: Made by me
Pants: Similar
Shoes: Similar

P.S. Notice anything different about the blog?? If not it's okay it's a pretty subtle change. But, I recently decided to go all in and finally purchase a website URL. So it's no longer talesofalame.blogspot.com but  just plain ole' talesofalame.com. This may not be a big deal for some but it is for me and I'm excited to see where this may go from here.

P.P.S. If you follow me on Instagram you would get sneak peaks of the things that I make and a little view of my process in making it so follow me.
