Photo Diary: How I Conquered Rome In A Day

By Imani Johnson - December 25, 2018

The last place in Italy that I wanted to visit before I leave is Rome!
Rome was a different undertaking than Pisa. All the blogs say that you at least have spend two days in Rome. I didn't have that sort of time since this is a last minute trip, so my goal was to conquer Rome in a day. I Googled "Rome in a day" and this blog gave me a list of all the hotspots to hit if you only have a limited amount of time in Rome. Those places were:

Spanish Steps
Trevi Fountain
Pantheon
Piazza Navona
Largo Argentina
Piazza Venezia
Colosseum

Armed with my list and google maps I set off to Rome. I get there and its cold and rainy, not the perfect sight-seeing whether but, it'll have to do. My Lizzie Mcguire Movie dream will prevail. I was on a mission.

So, I walk to each place, enjoying my time in this humongous city and go through my list. Before I know it I'm done with my list and I had only been in Rome for 4 hours. So my choices were to either, look up more things to see, or change my train ticket and leave early. Well, I was wet, cold, and my fingers had become icicles. I decided to head on back to Florence. Again the downside, to visiting these places in the winter is that you don't really spend as much time in these places that you normally would if it was warmer. Something to keep in mind, but then again my pictures have little to no tourists in them. I mean I was able to take a picture in front of the Trevi Fountain with no one else around.

What type of traveller are you? Do you prefer to go during off season or tourist season?

Also, I made a travel video from my trip to Rome so you can check out on my IGTV or Facebook!
